WELCOME TO EIGHT WINDS KUNG FU

At Chislehurst Kung Fu we practice and teach the modern practical style of kungfu known as Ba Feng Quan or Eight Winds Kung Fu. Our style is great for fitness, self-defence, self-confidence and much much more. All classes are taught in a fun, friendly and welcoming environment, and all our classes welcome beginners throughout the year. Your first class free, so why not give us a try?

Kung fu is not about fighting; it's about respect for yourself and for those around you, it's about building a self awareness and awareness of others, which lead to a quiet self confidence, all of which are cultivated in our lessons. We are a friendly and sociable group coming from all walks of life and we do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender or for any other reason. Kung fu is for all, and our class environment reflects this.

Our classes reflect the breadth and depth of our style, and techniques taught will typically include blocks, counterattacking strikes, breathing exercises, grasping and grappling techniques, takedowns, classical Chinese forms, weapons, and much more, all complemented by a satisfying and safe physical warm-up and cool-down at each end of the class.
More about us

Our classes

All our general classes have a consistent structure in which we warm up, work on our fundamental techniques, then move into applying these techniques with our partners. Our techniques are geared towards practical application and will build your flexibility, speed, dexterity and fluidity. People of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of natural fitness find benefit in attending our sessions.

We employ modern fitness training techniques to prevent injury and optimise physical performance, while drawing upon the very best of our classical Chinese heritage to provide a rich and rewarding activity with life-long benefits.

All students are engaged in guiding their juniors through their learning, allowing us to maintain the chain of knowledge for future generations.

Our learning environment is refreshingly free of ego or machismo.

Train with us

We believe the best way to assess whether a martial art is right for you is to attend a trial class, whether to watch or to join in. You should feel comfortable with your fellow practitioners, inspired to learn from them, and inspired to share what you have learned. In the Ba Feng Quan style of kung fu that we practice at Chislehurst Kung Fu we like to believe we have achieved this balance, so why not give us a try? Come to any class dressed as you would for a gym session or for jogging. Generally you may train in bare feet or in thin-soled training shoes with light-coloured soles, as you prefer.
